It's Your Life: How to Live It Your Way!

Do remember the days when you would lie in bed each night and dream of the days of becoming an adult? Close your eyes for a moment and reflect on how you use to feel. Feel the energy flowing through your body when you would visualize all the adventures you would have; all the wonderful and exciting experiences you wanted to have when you became an adult. Can you feel those moments after all this time has passed? Are you able able to see those visions even now? Do you still have those dreams for your life? If not, what happened? What changed? Maybe it was life. Has the routine of everyday life taken away the hope you once had for you?
Psychologist have proven that our "world" (our complex network of beliefs) stem from three basic factors: environment, associations, and experiences. Much of our existence and how we feel about ourselves can be summed up through these three sources.
Your environment extends beyond just your neighborhood. Your surroundings are composed of where you live, where you work or attend school, your place of worship. It also include where you shop, dine, and where you go for entertainment. Your environment also includes where you go inside your head: your thoughts, ideas and fantasies.
Most of us tend to associate with people that are either like ourselves or with people we want to be. So who do you spend your time with the most? Who are your friends? Who do you work with, attend school with, or worship your Creator with? Does anyone within your circle think, act or believe any differently then you?
Are you currently happy with the direction of your life? Are you doing the things that you once dreamt of or said that you would be doing at this stage of your life? Are you even happy with your life? Is there something missing; something that you desire specifically for your? What we experience within our lives and on a daily bases are mainly contributed to the other two factors mentioned before: environment and associations.
Have you ever asked yourself how did you come up with the thoughts and beliefs that you have? Are these your original thoughts and ideas? Or are they the thoughts, ideas, and beliefs of someone else? If you were born and raised in a totally different environment, do you think that you would have had different associations and different experiences? Of course you would. Well it's not too late. You can take back your life and live it on your own terms.
Here are a few ideas that you can apply immediately to reconnect with your dreams and live the life you have always wanted for yourself:
  1. Change your environment. As I mentioned before, your environment is composed of more than just where you live. It's OK if your budget doesn't allow you to move into a different neighborhood; you can still have the same experiences. Visit the parks, community centers, shopping malls, movie theaters, restaurants, etc of that particular neighborhood. Also, change the way you think. Remember, you will attract into your life whatever is in alignment with your dominant thoughts. Changing the things you think about the most can be as simple as watching something different on television, reading a different genre of books or magazines, spending some quiet time in meditation. Simple changes to your environment will usher in a renewed joy about your life.

  2. Change the people you associate with the most. If you are the wealthiest, smartest, and most exciting person that you know then it's time for you to get some new friends. Spending time with new people allows you to have new experiences. Your family members, coworkers, and classmate all think and behave the same way that you do. If each of you is exactly alike then how will you ever expand personally, professionally, mentally, or financially? You don't have to give up your old friends. However, hanging with new people is the best way to add some spice back into your life.

  3. Embrace your new experiences. Change can be very difficult for some. I am sure that you have heard the term "no pain no gain". I am also sure that some of the best experiences in your life were found on the other side of change. Any mother will tell you that the experience of giving birth was excruciating, but the joys of motherhood were well worth it. Change is refreshing. Welcome it.
I am excited about your new life. It is my sincere desire that you hold tightly to these suggestions, and that you will from henceforth live your absolute best life possible.
